Fished the Artificials Tournament with Pat Holmes. Met up at 530, loaded and headed offshore. Weather was up, mixed drizzle and wind from the beginning. Got out the rhe 371, weather improved, wind still blowing. Plan was to fly a yummy for BFT's and troll rapala and cedar plug for YFT's. Sometime after 10am, during a weed check, Pat hooked a YFT, so far so good. Did several passes throughout the day. Later in the afternoon I see the kite acting weirdly, getting pulled backwards... Started reeling the yummy in and the line gets tight. As it gets near the boat we see a Dorado had attacked the yummy and got it in the boat. Ambitious fish!! Redeployed the kite, back on our tacks. Heard a couple large fish being caught, we metered several schools all day but couldn't find the right fish.. Ended the day with one YFT and one Dorado. Worked our way back home... Long day, but it paid off for the tournament.
