Seeker 196-6
« on: May 29, 2020, 05:17:30 PM »
So we all have had to find things to do during quarantine so I busted ll the old rod building supplies out. I have made couple pretty cool rods i'll show later but this is my favorite so far. I found three Seeker 196-6 green glass rods for sale on Ebay and couldn't pass it up. I don't remember who told this to me but they said " iff you see a green glass blank from Seeker, you buy it. so now I have 3. I'm building 2 of them as twins and don't know what I'm going to do with the third one. so here is the first one.

Seeker 196-6 green glass blank
6' #10-#25

Handle: Cork Tape, tarred sea twine half hitched over for texture ad then X-tube shrink wrap

3 color fade wrap

Alps LXN Aluminum Oxide guides sized 20,16,16,12,12,12,12,12 and a 12 tip top all blacked out.

Im super stoked on this rod and can't wait to try her out on some yellowtail or WSB. Planning on using it as my #12 set up. Now I just have to pair it with a reel. If you have suggestions let me know.

Nice job Bill.  That will be a good light line rod.

Wow, that's some sweet wrap! I used to like making rods but haven't done it for a long time. You will have fun with that one.

As for a reel, I would say a Trinidad 16A on the high end. You could also go Penn Squall 25N. I'm not in touch with the other Penn's or Diawa's but some good choices overall. Definitely go star drag in my opinion.

Very cool!

Best,

G
